City, State: New York, NY Comments: I just had to tell you what a great time we all had last night, July 22, with you, Dana, and so many other wonderful entertainers at The Iguana. Keep doing what you're doing....it was a smash. Will be there again soon to see what's up your sleeve next.
City, State: NYC Website: http://www.singingexperience.com/ Comments: I think that you have a good thing going at Iguana - like the set up and it will build. Also, it is at a place that not everybody in the cabaret world goes to - something different. The restaurant should do everything to cooperate to keep you there - you are bringing in business! love, Linda
City, State: Fort Lauderdale, FL Comments: Who is Richard Skipper? Allow me, another tribute artist/actor/singer, to educate you in the fine art of Richard Skipper. In my 15 years in the tribute industry,(for 10 of those years, I've had the honor of calling Richard Skipper my friend,) Richard Skipper is known far and wide as an exemplary CLASS ACT. The entire entertainment industry would do well to use Richard as a template for the manner in which we conduct ourselves. He is considered the best in the business for a reason, and he is beloved in our industry. He's positive - not pessimistic. He's kind - never catty. He's giving - never greedy. Richard is a great person. He is a wonderful, loving performer for whom his craft is not merely a job, but a medium with which to share his love for his subject with the world. I sat backstage with Richard at a World Trade Center Benefit Thanksgiving Eve of 2001, and watched in amazement as he never dropped character under such somber circumstances, and had to tell both Haley Mills and Donna McKechnie that he indeed was not Miss Channing, but her tribute artist. He never tried to deceive them, but this proved one simple fact to me: his art is so thorough, so complete, even the most educated and knowledgeable among us in the entertainment industry could indeed make the mistake. Those who are responsible "theatricians" out there realize that Richard's act is a loving honor and tribute to an entertainment legend whose act changed very little in almost 50 years. Miss Channing continues to hold audiences in the palm of her hand by hearkening back to the days of the American Musical Theatre in which powerhouse performers made Broadway great. I assure you - people DO indeed care. If they didn't Richard would not have continued the arduous work involved in crafting and perfecting the impersonation. The fact that Richard picked up Miss Channing's torch and carried it proudly, responsibly and with class is as much a testament to Richard as it is to Miss Channing. I have never heard a negative word cross Richard Skipper's lips about another act, another individual. He's one up on you already. As an artist and as I person, I've stumbled and fallen numerous times. I can say humbly that I hope I can be Richard Skipper when I grow up. Anyone in our business should be so lucky. Many Regards, Michael Walters
City, State: NYC Comments: Richard Skipper is now one of my favorite people. I "met" Richard about a year ago by telephone, when I was doing my very first cabaret show. He was so caring and gave me some wonderful advice, talking to me for at least an hour. I subsequently met him in person after one of his fabulous Carol Channing tribute shows, later meeting the real Richard Skipper at a party, then at a networking workshop. Richard is not only talented either as Carol Channing or as himself, but he is one of the most unselfish, loving and giving people I have ever met. I always feel inspired after being around him. You would be blessed to get to know him better. SINCERELY, Diana LeBlanc |
