City, State: Las Vegas, NV Website: www.CroonersUnlimited.com Comments: Richard: I listened to your show today and was impressed beyond words! The entire interview was interesting, lively, and full of stories and music - it was so well done! I also loved that you had the young lady (Samantha Rehr) on with you who is playing the lead in the High School version (HELLO, DOLLY) - you and the host made her feel like a million bucks - and she evidently had a good grasp on the character - thanks to you, no doubt! It is so important to keep these wonderful musicals alive and introduce them to this techno-minded generation we have found ourselves blessed with. People like you, who take the time to teach, to enrich, are rare and in between! Good for you, Richard! It was a delight and I'm so glad I took the time to listen - I couldn't turn it off! City, State: San Francisco, CA Comments: Hi Richard, I think what you are doing is great. At at time when so many schools are cutting back funding for the arts due to budget cuts, it’s important for private citizens to step forward and try to keep these programs going. I’m not sure we’re in position to give advice here as we’re all about funding for AIDS services. However, in researching possible grants for our cause, I keep running across funders who focus on kids and education so this may fit under that. Alternatively, I’d suggest reaching out to as many local theatre companies as possible who might consider doing special performances to fund this cause. And, of course, recruiting celebrity star power to promote the cause never hurts. Carol is great but can’t keep the flame going alone. Perhaps she could be helpful in getting other stars she’s worked with or knows well to give testimonials and endorsements? And, of course, pitching as many local and national media sources as possible is a no brainer. Not sure if that helps, but it’s some thoughts. _Best, Ken KEN HENDERSON Executive Director / Event Producer The Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation (REAF) 942 Divisadero Street, Ste. 201, SF, CA 94115 415-931-2515 Direct + 415-264-0926 Cell 415-236-6456 Fax + email: ken@reaf.org UPCOMING REAF EVENTS April 13: “One Night Only” with the casts of “WICKED” and “GREASE” June 15: “One Night Only” with the cast of “SPAMALOT” August 2: “Help is on the Way XV” at the Herbst Theatre Visit www.helpisontheway.org for details
City, State: Las Vegas, Nevada Website: http://www.croonersunlimited.com/ Comments: BRAVO!!! Excellent article - good for you Richard, and good for Ms. Channing! It is a worthy cause and its so great that her Celebrity and yours have brought attention to the lack of (or disappearance of) the Arts in our public schools. It really is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned!! Break some legs, Weston High! Gracie Fulljames Crooners LV www.CroonersUnlimited.com
