City, State: NYC Website: http://www.SueMatsuki.com Comments: What Richard does as an actor with Ms. Channing is so brilliant. Carol, like Judy and Liza and others, are already "caricatures" of themselves in some ways. They are bigger than life as perfomers and all have the funny quirks, mannerisms, speech patterns and such that any good impersonator can copy. BUT, here's the kicker, and what I believe Richard does so well, he adds restraint. I know, imagine ME using the word "restraint" in the same sentence as Richard Skipper!!! (LOL) What I am saying though is that he is AS over the top as Carol is in real life but he never does a "camp" or mean-spirited version of Carol. This would be SO easy to do as she is already such a huge personality but he keeps his impression of her dead on with AS MUCH camp as she IS but never to the side of being insulting in any way. See him sometime. Watching his audience take the journey with him is as much fun as watching him! This would be a great point for Richard to address in an auto-biographical show of his life as Carol. City, State: Asbury Park, NJ Website: http://www.beachcruisermag.com Comments: I had the privilege of catching Richard as Carol Channing in Hello Dolly with Revision Theatre here in Asbury Park at the Paramount Theatre this summer and it was truly, no BS, one of those performances and nights I will always remember! To be honest, I am not really big on the Broadway thing and was a little whiny about going...but when the curtain went up and Richard came out, I was totally wowed. Besides his obvious talents, what really struck me was his ability to interact with and engage the audience...very very special. Thanks Richard and thanks Revision Theatre...all of your cast were spectacular as well. It was truly a night when a New York City experience came to Asbury Park and I hope we will have many more to come! xoxoxo, Billy

City, State: Asbury Park, NJ 07712 Comments: This is long overdue. I just wanted to say that working with Richard for his performance as Carol Channing as Dolly Levi in ReVision Theatre's production of HELLO, DOLLY! was a pleasure and an honor. Richard went above and beyond the call of duty in promoting the show and was one of the most professional people I have worked with in various fields. After seeing his performance in DOLLY I was thrilled when he came to preform his night-club act at McCloone's on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. It was a night to remember. THANK YOU again Richard, you are the best.
City, State: NYC Comments: Dear Richard, I felt as I were reliving my life of "Lorelei" & "Hello, Dolly!" with your wonderful evening of Carol Channing. Carol would be so flattered by your loving tribute. XOXOX, Lee Roy |
