City, State: NYC Comments: Had a wonderful time at your show the other night. I think that this is one of your best shows ever and that you continue to top even yourself. Great to have the 5 piece band and back up singers - but you need a theater - your are way too big a personality for that room. I remember seeing you in Atlantic City and your talent fit that room to a "T" - Congrats on a sold-out run at Helen's and giving everyone who comes to see you, more than their money's worth! You continue to create more fans with every performance....much love, Linda
City, State: New york, NY Comments: Your new Carol Channing show was a phenomenal job. It's a theater piece that can travel, so I suspect you'll be living with it for a long time, here and elsewhere. Apart from that, I'd love to see some regional theater take the gamble and cast you in the "Hello, Dolly" role.
City, State: San Francisco, CA Website: www.luahadar.com Comments: I love Carol Channing. I grew up with her as an entertainment figure in my cultural life; she was always on TV, in the movies, on Broadway; I knew her songs. I always loved her humor, her unique style, the color of her voice. When I see Richard Skipper on stage, I FORGET I am not seeing Carol Channing. I am seeing the Carol Channing of my youth, and I remember that time with great nostalgia - the good kind. Richard understands and respects Carol Channing; he embodies her. I highly recommend that you let Richard Skipper take you away with his beautiful voice, his humor and his spirit; he's a joy.
City, State: Philadelphia, PA Comments: Richard as Carol Channing is not to be missed. There are not enough superlatives to state how I felt. It was a superb, and awesome evening. Richard as Carol could easily wear the names given to some of the world’s opera divas : La Divina, La Stupenda. Just an extraordinary evening. The amazing Richard Skipper as Carol Channing in Concert transported me to a new galaxy. Richard was warm and wonderful before the show but once the lights went down and Carol arrived at Helen’s Hideaway Room, Richard disappeared. Accompanied by a wonderful band and 3 excellent backup singers, Carol sang songs from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Lorelei, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Hello Dolly as well as several new songs. His spontaneity when answering questions from the audience as well as his performance of songs that were new to me such as “Widow Weeds” was awesome. The audience all had a wonderful time. A definite must see experience.
City, State: Newfoundland, New Jersey Comments: Thank you so very much for an evening of elegant and sincere enjoyment. Your ability to build in a birthday tribute, anniversary acknowlegement, recognize and speak to other New York performing artists, and share yourself so directly with your audience is disarming. Your reception line, as guests departed, was a very classy way to make us all feel special. |
