I can’t begin to tell you what a joy it was to sit down and chat (albeit virtually) with Richard Skipper. He is kind, intelligent, passionate and generous- and it all is evident in his interviews. His support of his fellow artists is so admirable. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed an interview so much, as Richard doesn’t ask the typical questions (for which we all have a tired and rehearsed answer), but rather gets to the heart of each guest he has, as an individual, and explores subjects and feelings that one typically only discusses with a dear friend. But that’s just what Richard is, a dear friend in this industry. Thank you Richard! ~ Nicolas King

Richard Skipper -- Thank you for having me on Richard Skipper Celebrates.  I loved our interview on my birthday.  You are so special and so amazingly skilled as a host.  I truly felt like I was just talking to a friend over a drink, meal or coffee.  Lord, you even got a little Barbara Walters on me and made me tear up!  Also, thanks for your generosity in donating to The Del Shores Foundation - delshoresfoundation.org - and telling people about it, encouraging them to donate to support LGBTQ storytellers.  You are a breath of fresh air in these crazy times!

Creativity In the Age of COVID?  And the answer is yes!  A great round table discussion hosted by Richard Skipper with therapist Judi Bloom and award winning singers Celia Berk and Jennifer Roberts. What was most rewarding about this show was each person had their own way of navigating their careers and personal best through these unprecedented times. What an inspiring positive segment in how we move forward as creative people. And all of us have accomplished that in our own unique way with Richard Skipper creating the platform for our voices. The greatest example being Richard himself who 100 percent creates for  as well as  supports the entertainers; he walks the walk and talks the talk. I am very grateful to have been a participant tonight.

I’m not always able to catch “Richard Skipper Celebrates” live but recently was able to watch two of Richard’s interviews in real time. The first was with Christina Bianco,a performer I only became aware of in the last few years but knew very little about out. The other? Adrienne Barbeau, who I’ve loved since I was kid and would sneak and stay up past my bedtime to watch MAUDE. (it was the days of the “Family Hour”)

Bianco! Such a fun, charming and engaging interview! And frankly, just what I needed that day. I am now such a fan of hers now. She’s someone to watch!

Barbeau? I was in junior high school before I knew of her theatre background. Loved learning her backstory, especially the insights into what trying to break into the theatre scene was like in the 60s/early 70s.

Richard is always on point, prepared, has done his research and whenever I have seen him, allows the conversation to flow naturally with his knowledge and experiences more as a spring board than a rather flat Q&A session. His interviews are never dry or formal; more like dining with friends. Whenever I think “Richard Skipper” I think positivity, humor and most importantly, gratitude and kindness.

Another of his skills? Well, I’m ordering Barbeau’s autobiography (which honestly I had forgotten she did) and wildly anticipating her current collaboration book project on the development of GREASE. Neither of which were on my radar.
