City, State: Mineola, NY Comments: It was such a delight to be in the audience on August 5th at the ST. Luke's Theatre and sit in anticipation waiting for Richard Skipper's Show to begin. And, what a delight it turned out to be. From the moment the lights dimmed and the opening video presentation began you could feel the electricity flow throughout the theatre. And then as only Richard can, he rose out of his chair and sang to every single member of "his" audience his opening number. Yes, "his" audience because he always makes you feel as though he's performing just for you. His show went by so quickly and yet you wanted to hear more about his life and how well he portrayed his experiences which came from his heart. His family history was so special as he described every member of his family, his friends and the people he met along his way to New York in amazing detail just as if they happened to be on stage alongside him. And in such a caring, humorous and loving way. You only wanted to hear more of his life's adventure and what it all meant to him. Never once throughout the show did I ever think to myself, "when will this be over", only wanting more. His show "From Conway to New York" is like a really good book that you can't put down and you don't want it to ever end. And, when you come to the end of the last page, you close the book and say to yourself, I hope the sequel will be out soon. Well, I'm waiting for "From Conway to New York" part two. We traveled all the way from Cape Cod, Mass. to attend and it was well worth the trip! Richard's story was both entertaining and inspirational. His journey to the New York entertainment scene was a joy to hear, and the production mixed his storytelling with musical numbers, which brought it to life for us. City, State: New City, NY Comments: I attended “ An Evening With Richard Skipper” on 8/5 at the St.Luke’s Theatre. He is a master storyteller, presented in an animated and colorful way. I especially loved catching a 'glimpse' of his Carol Channing and hearing of that special friendship. His sincerity and talent shown through, with the help of his accompanist, Bryon Sommers. City, State: NY Comments: On August 5th, I had the supreme pleasure of witnessing Richard Skipper live for the first time! Richard knows me from my starring role as Tzeitel, the oldest daughter in the film of “Fiddler on the Roof”. Richard had called me a number of years ago for an interview about my experience playing Dolly Levi in Hello. Dolly! Richard is a veritable encyclopedia and Who’s Who of the American musical theater. His knowledge, love and respect for artists of the musical stage surpasses even the most diehard of fans. His passion which began as a very young child has not dimmed a drop in all these years .... To see him onstage is pure joy! A Tall, handsome man with glowing skin, wearing his very own Ruby Slippers ..regaling his years and his first experiences in pursuing a life in the theatre, through stories and songs with the enthusiasm and wonder of a child untarnished by life had me captivated and smiling from ear to ear from start to finish.. Richard is a dynamic, funny and irresistible storyteller, with a strong Merman-Esque singing voice...truly a unique talent!! If you have a chance to see his next show, grab a phone and book your tickets now! He played to a SOLD OUT house on 8/5/19, Extra seats filled the isles, such was the demand to see the show..
