I saw Richard Skipper's show this week with my partner, Rob.
Rob had been chirping about seeing Richard's show for a few weeks and I was reluctant, but only because I didn't know what to expect of the genre.
HE WAS GREAT!
Richard's performance is nothing like any other. His class and style are a tribute to Carol Channing, as well as to theatre, and his portrayal of Carol speaking to Ephraim was moving. Clearly he has tremendous acting skills as well.
Rob & I took his Mom to see Carol Channing in Hello Dolly during its last run on Broadway some years ago. We had great seats and just adored her. Richard really brings her spirit to the stage and we felt as though we were right there with Ms. Channing herself.
Now, to anyone who has not seen Richard's performance, DO NOT miss out on this!!!

Richard, as Carol, is warm to the audience, interacts beautifully, and has all the grace & charm that makes Carol who she is -- an icon.
Get to see this show as soon as you can. It will warm you and it delivers on being a close up personal conversation with Carol Channing.
You won't want it to end.
Thank you Richard, we had a great evening!

Frank & I saw Richard's show last night at the St. Luke's Theatre in Manhattan. The performance was absolute pure entertainment.
Richard truly lives into Carol's character does so with much professionalism, love, respect and passion for Carol Channing.
He's the only performer who Carol herself endorses, and his relationship with her certainly enhances his character.
Last night's performance coincided with Carol's 90th birthday, so we were treated with an amazingly delicious cake after the show and an opportunity to greet Richard.
His interaction with the audience was spot on and we really felt like we were enjoying an intimate room with Carol Channing.
Kudos also to his musical team directed by John Fischer. A first class act all the way!
I strongly urge anyone who has to endure these snowy days in Manhattan or elsewhere to take a Wednesday afternoon (since it seems to snow every Wednesday!) and treat yourself and a friend to a fine time with Richard as Carol. The show goes by quickly, so savor every moment.
If Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend, then Richard is mine!

Richard Skipper is a delicious performer. The show was full of good clean fun!! It's been a long time since I laughed so hard and was so hypnotized by a performer. Skipper is absolutely LOVELY as Carol.I can see how she is honored by his performance. I had the BEST time. Look forward to seeing more of him on stage, as Carol or as himself.

On January 31st, I made a sojourn to St. Luke's Theater to see a pure force. Carol Channing. Not the real one, but one just as exciting, as powerful and as talented as the grand lady herself. Richard Skipper's portrayal of Miss Channing is as deep from his heart as one can get. All the funny stories of her stage life highlights are featured as well as the inter-mingling within the audience.
Bottom line...a rip-roaring time.
Richard Skipper has sincerity and you can't fake that! It's non-stop joy the entire show.
Don't believe me? Ask Joe Franklin, ask Betsy Palmer and ask Eileen Fulton who attended on January 31st.
I throw around compliments like they are manhole covers so this is NOT like me to rave like this.
Richard does it...and for the record..Miss Carol loves him very much!
Run, don't walk to St. Luke's...AND SPREAD THE WORD! It's a nugget of a show!!!
