City, State: NYC Comments: Richard Skipper is a delicious performer. The show was full of good clean fun!! It's been a long time since I laughed so hard and was so hypnotized by a performer. Skipper is absolutely LOVELY as Carol.I can see how she is honored by his performance. I had the BEST time. Look forward to seeing more of him on stage, as Carol or as himself. City, State: Croton On Hudson, New York Comments: On January 31st, I made a sojourn to St. Luke's Theater to see a pure force. Carol Channing. Not the real one, but one just as exciting, as powerful and as talented as the grand lady herself. Richard Skipper's portrayal of Miss Channing is as deep from his heart as one can get. All the funny stories of her stage life highlights are featured as well as the inter-mingling within the audience. Bottom line...a rip-roaring time. Richard Skipper has sincerity and you can't fake that! It's non-stop joy the entire show. Don't believe me? Ask Joe Franklin, ask Betsy Palmer and ask Eileen Fulton who attended on January 31st. I throw around compliments like they are manhole covers so this is NOT like me to rave like this. Richard does it...and for the record..Miss Carol loves him very much! Run, don't walk to St. Luke's...AND SPREAD THE WORD! It's a nugget of a show!!! Kevin Van Meter Boxing Ring Announcer New York Daily News Golden Gloves Madison Square Garden
City, State: New York, NY Comments: We had such a great time seeing Richard as Carol Channing -- though the 'Richard' part eased into the background as Carol came to the fore. Within minutes, we were being entertained by Carol - with her sibilant "ssss" and broad lipsticked grin. We were lucky enough to be selected by Richard for some audience interaction, and being long-time fans of Carol Channing, we had some knowledge of her career and background. We made an appropriately esoteric inquiry and without skipping a beat she (sic) replied with wit and the wide-eyes faux-naivete that kind of became trademark. Well - enough of my accolades! See this show!! And try to sit close enough so you can catch some of the jewels that will be tossed out into the audience! So much fun! Chuck Goldfine, New York, NY
City, State: NY Website: www.loisbarth.com Comments: "Richard is smashing... and Carol's not half-bad either. Together a fabulous combo. I came away from opening night understanding not only why Richard is such a success, but why Mrs. Channing is such an icon. Richard totally embodied her grace charm and graciousness. That's what true icons, especially of that era possess. My friend was singing along to every tune, and so was I. Lois Barth, Trans-fun-mational Coach and Speaker/Trainer
City, State: New York, NY Comments: I'd, honestly, never been interested in Carol Channing before seeing Richard's show. Richard GOT me interested in her. With his inspired sense of mimicry wedded to a genuine empathy for his subject, he won me over and made want to spend MORE time with both him and her. John Michael Koroly, NYC |
