City, State: NYC Comments: I had the honor of seeing Richard Skipper last night performing, and fell in love with Him. I have no doubt that he ARE Carol Channing. He is fabulous! The show was funny, witty and very pleasant to watch. Richard portrayed her as a loving warm and likeable person. Never out of character. He is very very talented. I had such a good time I didn't want it to end. By the way, as soon as I got home, I got on the phone and told my friends about Richard and the great show. I also e-mailed the info about his show to my e-mail list. Thank you again. Oh, and thank you for the big diamond ring that you threw my way. I love it. Yaffa
City, State: New York, NY Website: www.daverubs.com Comments: It was so great to see Richard Skipper as Carol last week. I don't know if one can technically "channel" a person who is still alive, but that seems to be what Richard is doing with our Dolly. As one who studied acting for many years, though, I especially appreciate the CRAFT that goes into his performance. I'm afraid that the tribute is so dead-on and the knowledge of Carol's life so thorough that many people might miss what a terrific ACTING job Richard is doing -- in the songs, in the monologues, and in the improvisational interactions with audience members. The speech to Ephraim was so nuanced and emotionally rich that (dare I say it) I think it may have surpassed the original. MUCH SUCCESS with the show in more venues and with all the engagements in the future. All my best, Dave
City, State: NYC Comments: Loved it, loved it, loved it! The larger "environ" worked perfectly for the show. Every time I see Richard Skipper's shows, I seem to learn something new about Carol. It was also fun listening to people's comments who had never seen him perform. Everyone was so impressed and had such a fun time watching Richard last night. I had planned to come with some friends on Sunday (today), but when I went on line to make a reservation, I realized the show ended Saturday. I'm so glad I was able to rush down to the theater and get a seat. The woman sitting beside me said she was on a standby list and barely got in. Thanks again for a wonderful evening. Love, Bob Armstrong
City, State: New Yor, N.Y. Comments: Without a doubt the evening spent the other night at the Wing's Theatre was a pure delight. My only complaint was that the evening came to a close. I truly hope that Richard Skipper will be back here in the Big Apple soon.......we need, and do appreciate, his talent. Continued success wherever he performs. Fred
City, State: New York City Comments: I had the best time! After the first three minutes, I forgot I was watching Richard Skipper and became completely enthralled by Carol Channing. I'm sorry this current run is at an end, but I'll be looking forward to seeing Richard again in a bigger theater--and soon. Love, Eve P.S. I will treasure--and wear--my "Carol" diamond ring. |
