City, State: Brooklyn, NY Website: www.suematsuki.com Comments: WOW...as usual, a GREAT show from Richard Skipper. I love the theater on him and him and his cast on the theater. I think it is where Richard and his big voice belong. I wish Carol & Harry could see him in this show. She would be even more proud of him (if that's possible). Miles Phillips did a great job as his Director too. Congratulations! Sue Matsuki
City, State: New York NY Website: www.partylite.biz/candlebabe Comments: Richard Skipper turned The Wings Theatre into an intimate cabaret experience. This show is a must-see. A Valentine to Carol Channing and the perfect Valentine to one's sweetheart. Readers, FLY to the Wings Theatre and see this incredible performance! I was so happy to be in the audience for Richard's birthday show--double the pleasure. And what a show! His spontaneity fuses a rapport with the audience that is delicious. This show rocks--and I'm not just talking about those diamonds Richard passes out to lucky audience members! Visually, the production has all the right touches. The set was perfect--I especially loved the photo of Carol in her widow's weeds. But it's Richard and his brilliant company, who made my night. He IS Carol, down to a toe tap. The musicians were perfect. "Carol's Boys," the three male singer/dancers, were delightful. Together, they turned "Blondes" into a show-stopper (my personal favorite). Richard's performance is a study in the joy and wonder of musical theatre. We leave richer, happier, smarter (especially those to whom Carol is only Dolly Levi)and begging for more. With love, Roberta
City, State: NYC Comments: I am a member of Wings Theatre and I saw Richard Skipper's show last night. I decided to look at his website this morning, and I joined his mailing list! The show was fantastic. It was such an enjoyable evening. Richard Skipper is an incredibly talented performer and he are so charming. I was very impressed with his knowledge of Ms. Channing's life history, and his quick wit. I thought that the audience interaction added such a nice touch to the show. And I always find it so lovely when performers greet their audience in the lobby after the show. I met Carol once after I saw her perform at The Village Theatre on Bleecker Street a couple of years ago. They set up a table in the lobby for her to greet her audience after the show. She signed copies of "Just Lucky I Guess." It was really a thrill. Thanks again for a really great show last night, and I look forward to seeing more of Richard's shows in the future.

My favorite moment was Blondes with your trio. So adorable. And the way you engage everyone in the audience in your signature style. What a great evening. Three more to go at the Wings Theatre. I am telling all my friends. With Love, Leslie www.Leslieorofino.com
City, State: New York, NY Comments: I happily attended the show Sunday afternoon with my friend Jenny Lynn Stewart. In additional to the masterful artistry of Richard, the brilliance of Carol's spontaneous chat with the audience members, and her dazzling charm, one is embraced, inspired, and uplifted in an atmosphere of pure, unadulterated love. Bravo, brava, and thank you! (May I add my own wishes for a gloriously happy birthday!) |
