Richard Skipper was absolutely terrific in his June 5th show at Helen's. I've seen him perform several times in the past, but this evening was particularly stellar...Skipper truly embodies the spirit and essence of Carol Channing and judging from her reaction in the audience, she must feel that way too! It was amazing, and touching, to see him on stage and then glance over to Ms. Channing thrilling to his interpretations of some of her classic songs and moments, but flavored with his keen insights and gift of ad-lib! Congratulations on showing such respect to one of our greatest performers and for having the gift to do it in such a polished manner. Bravo! (Brava?) :) With love, Ken Kleiber, THAT'S KENTERTAINMENT

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Richard Skipper's special tribute to Carol Channing with Carol Channing in the audience on June 5, 2007. Skipper was amazing! I will always remember the "other" Carol Channing saying to him on stage "You must really love me." Skipper is a great performer and his performance that evening was spectacular. I hope he will be able to move this show to Broadway. It belongs there.
Love Jenny

Just read Richard Skipper's beautiful story on Carol Channing, cover story no less, in this months CABARET SCENES. Thank you.
Who would ever think that when he decided to to do a tribute to Carol, with all his love for her, that he would ever get to meet her and become a friend. Skipper's shows go to the heart, not to ridcule her but to love and honor her.

I was truly privileged to attend the show at Helen's Hideaway Room when Richard played Carol Channing FOR Carol Channing. Wow! As usual he lit up the room, but the magic was to see Carol's reaction to his loving portrayal of her. Her open-mouthed delight was palpable to everyone in the room. It was Show Business glamour and thrills - sheer magic. I have to say in public that Richard is probably the best hearted, most loving, deserving bundle of talent and joy in our community, and, it appears he is on his way to bigger and wider success. I'm proud to call him, friend. Cynthia Crane
