Hi everybody,
I had the privilege yesterday afternoon to attend the WINGS theatre presentation Carol Channing In Concert starring Richard Skipper. This was the second preview as opening night is Friday, January 25th. I have seen Richard as Carol many times and this transformation from a cabaret show to a full 2 hour theatre piece was extraordinary. When Richard takes the stage as Carol you forget that it is Richard. He becomes Carol and she is the only one you see. This production directed by Miles Phillips also boasts three very talented chorus boys: Rocco L. Arrigo, Michael Hopewell and Kristopher Monroe. But it is Richard absolutely flawless as Carol who lights up the theatre and sends the audience home with a warm, wonderful glow . It's as if you are meeting Carol Channing for the first time in person. A friend of mine came who has never seen Richard before, he left the theatre determined to return before February 16th to see the show again.
Run don't walk and get your tickets now. Yesterday afternoon was essentially a sold out house.
I'm sure its going to be a Standing Room Only engagement. An absolute MUST SEE !!!!

So I was there Opening Night: “Richard Skipper as Carol Channing in Concert”. I had such a good time I don’t know where to start. Richard Skipper is so gifted, that from the get-go, I forgot about him and became immersed in the belief that Carol Channing herself, was up there on that stage. I become hypnotized by the story of her life. Richard sounds just like her and looks just like her, but he especially shines with his relationship to the audience. His Carol turns the house lights up and proceeds to tease us and engage us. We are reeled in, hook, line and sinker, and we love it. Miles Phillips did a great job of moving Carol and her three darling back-up guys around a small stage which also held the piano, bass and drums. His simple set was highlighted by a chandelier and oversized photos of Carol, but it was Carol herself who held us entranced. The Wings Theater is certainly to be commended for this move from a Cabaret Show to a full production on their stage. I’m so happy for all, and I wish them success.

We saw the newly expanded "Richard Skipper as Carol Channing"show at the Wings Theater last night. So many times during this wonderful presentation,we had to remind ourselves that It was Richard and not Carol on the stage. This show is great fun, very entertaining, and informative as well. Go! You will have a great time seeing this remarkable performer.

The Carol Channing Tribute Show was not only great fun, but a charming homage to a unique and legendary American musical icon. It is a loving revue of many of her highlights of a high life in her multi decade career. It well-conceived, well-executed and Richard's audience involvement is the mark of a true veteran in the tradition of which Carol came from and contributed to.
Bravo, Brava, Bravissimo!

Richard is truly amazing! I became an instant fan when I saw his Carol Channing show at the Laurie Beechman Theater a few years ago. This is a loving and respectful tribute to a great lady.
He puts his heart and soul into this wonderful project. Who designed those stunning gowns? Oh my God! Georgous!
Richard has such a beautiful heart, his heart shines in this wonderfully crafted show.
Miles, you did it again! what a great team!
Planning to see the show again and will ask friends to join me.
Congratulations Richard and Miles! I hope your show runs longre than the set time frame.
Sincerely,
Maria Ottavia
