City, State: Jacksonville, FL Comments: I got back last night from The Big Apple and having the very great priviledge of seeing RICHARD SKIPPER have his face taken into the hands of the REAL Carol Channing and hearing her say," I LOVE Richard, he is so very wonderful"! This was after she had told the audience, after Richard's breathtaking performance, "He is taller than me, he sings better than me and I don't think I was EVER that pretty, I think he may do me better than I do!" What a thrill it was to have her acknowledge Richard's talent to the world (via Rex Reed who was at her table along with Carol's husband Harry, Marge Champion and other noteables.) Neil Sedaka asked Richard if he could come, but only if he could sing a song, and we got to hear & see him perform "Where the Boys Are" in an intimate 70 person room. Carol Channing also said that "Richard is truly the greatest musical comedy star I have ever seen and I have seen them all." I HEARD her say this. The whole room heard it! Everyone of you out there should be happy and proud to have Richard as a part of our community! I just wish I could bring Richard to Florida! Laddie Dwyer, UNIQUE ENTERTAINMENT
City, State: New York, NY Comments: What a 52nd Birthday celebration!!!! Surrounded by 26 of my dear friends, watching Carol Channing enraptured by Carol Channing (aka Richard) in a flawless and inspired tribute, with Marge Champion and Rex Reed in the room only to be topped off with a dedication of "Where the Boys Are" from the rock and roll legend, Neil Sedaka. Wow - a night to remember. Richard Skipper's performance is not to be missed - make it the priority to go and take your friends. Don't let this parade pass you by !!!!
City, State: NYC Website: http://www.christinelavin.com/ Comments: I am so thrilled forthe success of Richard Skipper and all the wonderful things happening -- it's all so well deserved, and how thrilling for Carol to be part of the experience. And those great things she said about him -- that's money in the bank! As with Ervin Drake, it's really important that these living legends get their due while they are here to enjoy it. Richard Skipper makes so many people happy, and that's also so important during this horrible political time we find ourselves living in. People need to laugh and be entertained and enjoy themselves from time to time -- I think performers in the best sense of the word are actually performing group therapy with their shows. The highest compliment I feel I was paid was when a concert promoter said to me, "People leave your shows feeling the way they should feel when they leave church -- but church doesn't do it for them anymore." People leave feeling elevated, and inspired -- the best performers take them out of their own lives, and into a different world. And Richard Skipper does that in SPADES! City, State: Windsor Ontario Comments: Tues June 5/07 at Helen's--Richard you were great; you're just Carol Channing on that stage! I've loved her all my life. And it was special with Carol Channing in the audience, she entered the room and everyone applauded and she said "I haven't said anything yet". You made Carol's song, "Widow's Weeds" funnier this time -Well, We all just thought it was over! The song just got funnier. It was cute when Carol said to you onstage that she did not realize she was so beautiful and so wonderful a performer until watching you perform. WHEN will you become a star on the Broadway stage? Soon I hope; your show needs to be seen by MORE people! - Mikey
City, State: ny, ny Website: www.myspace.com/clairedalymusic Comments: carol, (i always call her carol) what a joy to be in the band for richards performance for the "other" ms. channing. one highlight was seeing her watch the video beforehand of her career. i don't think harry had seen all of the clips, either! then, the joke that ends w/ "walter mathau" really got a howl. i had so much fun - thanks for having me be a part of it. xo claire daly (saxophone) |
