City, State: Saddle Brook, NJ Comments: I am one of the fortunate guests to have been able to get into Helen's Hideaway Room in NYC for the recent benefit fund raiser. I could not believe that there was a waiting list of people begging to get into the show! I have never been to such an event like this and knew that this was going to be an extraordinary night. I was not disappointed either. It was a real honor to be a part of the audience, which was sprinkled with honored guest like Marge Champion, Rex Reed and above all else - Carol Channing! Yes, "the" Carol Channing was there to watch the show. I was right next to her table with a clean view of her gazing at the performance. At times she would grin from ear to ear and then turn to see how Harry was reacting. I could simply go on and on but I just want to tell you - this was a night I will not soon forget. Please be sure to see Richard's show - there is something in there to touch the heart of everyone! Hey - I know it touched Carol's. Thank you Richard.

One of my most memorable evenings of theater was recently on board the GNI/SOURCE EVENTS cruise where the impeccable and mercurial Richard Skipper performed his one man homage to Carol Channing. It was dazzling, pithy, and very engaging. This was my second time seeing Richard Skipper perform and his artistry is worth your time. Ciao for now! Be well and travel often! Sincerely, Nathan Aaron Place, Vice President of TUSCAN-COLORS
Comments: I have known and worked with Carol Channing for many years. But now that I have seen the hilarious Richard Skipper and Carol Channing in the same room, I don't know who entertains me more. This is getting confusing. "Hello, Richard." "Sorry, it's Carol, don't you know." "Hello, Carol." "Aren't you sweet, it's Richard." Oh well, I'm just going to sit back, enjoy, and applaud them both. Rave reviews...from REX REED
City, State: Philadelphia, PA Comments: Wow! Wow! Wow fellas! Look at Richard Skipper now Fellas! He’s floating on a cloud that’s higher than Cloud Nine. I have seen Richard Skipper many times and always considered it a treat. On Tuesday night June 5, 2007 I had the rare privilege of seeing the Carol Channing In Concert show, starring Richard Skipper as Carol Channing at Helen’s Hideaway, New York City. The electricity in the sold out room was awesome from the arrival of Ms. Carol Channing and her husband Harry Kullijian as well as being in the midst of those celebrities in attendance: Marge Champion, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Drake, Rex Reed, and special guest Neil Sedeka. I enjoyed this evening as I sat with the lovely Leslie Orofino and watched Richard Skipper who was flawless, give his all and then some. There are impersonators, and there are illusionists, but Richard Skipper is a love song to that wonderful creator of Lorelei Lee and Dolly Levi, the legendary Carol Channing. His show is filled with love, respect, admiration and true devotion to her. I actually overheard Miss Channing referred to Mr. Skipper as Broadway’s finest star, and I have to agree. Again, what an awesome evening to be with both Carol Channings. The performance was also a benefit to support the Dr. Carol Channing- Harry Kullijian Endowment for the ARTS which we all need to support.
City, State: New York, New York Comments: Richard-You are simply brilliantly talented! Your show at Helen's last night with Carol Channing and her husband, Harry, in attendance, with both of them and the sold-out audience also loving every minute of you, should go down in history as one of the best performances of all time by anyone doing anything in the performing arts. You absolutely have Carol Channing down perfectly and in such a respectful and loving way. We were totally mesmerized by your giant talent. You are a wonderful actor, have a terrific voice-a real voice with beautiful quality to it, you are extremely musical and YOU HAVE STAR QUALITY. As Carol Channing said repeatedly throughout the night and we totally concur - "You are a musical comedy star" and that is whether you're portraying Carol Channing or if you used all that talent as YOU! The musical theater is missing out on not having you on Broadway as YOU as well as your perfect Carol Channing. You would not be able to do what you do with Carol Channing where you are not doing simply a caricature, but really inhabit her as a character unless you were an off-the-charts brilliant actor and singer. And that voice of yours, even singing as Carol, one could readily tell you have a terrific voice and you could be used for so many Broadway shows. You yourself are extremely handsome. You have the entire package as a Musical Comedy STAR. So many people in the performing arts industry want to put performers in a narrow-constrictive box! You can do anything and are multi-talented - no boxes for you! And remember, this is not just the two of us saying this - Carol Channing kept repeating how wonderful you were not only as Carol, but she could readily see as it was obvious to us, that you could do ANYTHING AS A PERFORMER and SHOULD BE!!! And everyone in that room to whom we spoke that night expressed the exact same opinion!!!! Your kind of talent is rare-you have across-the-board brilliance. You uplift people, Richard, not only as Carol, but as YOU and not only when you are performing. The world needs you Richard and we need you in our lives!!!! Well, do you get we really feel honored to know you and really felt thrilled to have the chance to see you perform and for such a worthy cause-The Dr. Carol Channing & Harry Kullijian Endowment? Thank you Richard. With love and hugs from Chris Kelley Karel (The Singing Hillary Clinton) and "Charlie (Chuck) Karel". |
